Two Bodies Recovered, Search for Five Missing Continues as Rescue Operation Underway in Ramban District After Cloudburst Triggers Flash Floods

Ramban 28 August(KNB): A devastating cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district has resulted in the deaths of at least two people, including a 12-year-old boy, with five others still missing.

The cloudburst occurred in the Rajgarh tehsil on Monday afternoon, causing flash floods in the Tanger and Dadi streams.

Seven people from three families were reported missing in the flash floods, according to Tehsildar Rajgarh Major Singh. Despite challenging weather conditions, rescue teams have recovered the bodies of two individuals: Yasir Ahmad (20) and Khalid Ahmed Parihar (12).

The search for the remaining five missing persons continues, including Naseema Begum (42), Shazia Banoo (6), Gulshan Begum (42), Seerat Banoo (8), and Qazia Banoo (6). Rescue efforts are underway to locate them, with teams battling inclement weather to reach the affected areas.

The cloudburst has affected the Panchayats of Kumate, Dhraman, and Halla, causing widespread destruction and displacement.(KNB)
