Twin militant attacks in South Kashmir, one killed

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNB): In the continued cycle of violence, a civilian was killed while as one was seriously injured after militants opened fire in Muran area of Pulwama district and in Khanbal area of Anantnag district respectively on Saturday.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau that the suspected militants fired upon Mohammad Ashraf near Muran Chowk area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a resident of Mouchpona village suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The deceased person was identified as Mohammad Ashraf Of Machpuna a former militant was working as an SPO in Cargo, Srinagar and at present was residing at Chanapora in Srinagar.

Earlier in a similar kind of its incident another special Police Officer (SPO) was injured critically after attacked by suspected militants in Khanbal area of South Kashmir’s Anatnang district.

Pertinently, Official sources said that the gunmen opened fire upon SPO Turag Singh in Khanbal. In the incident the SPO sustained critical bullet wounds and has been shifted District hospital Anantnag for treatment.
Meanwhile, a police officer confirmed the incident and said that they have launched searches to nab the assailants in the area.

Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF have cordoned off both the areas and launched a hunt to nab the suspected militants. (KNB)
