Srinagar 19 August(KNB): In a momentous announcement, the World Book of Records has officially recognized the Tulip Garden Srinagar as Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden, boasting an impressive display of 1.6 million Tulips and a rich collection of 68 distinct tulip varieties. The recognition was formally conferred at a ceremony held within the hallowed halls of the Britain Parliament.
The Commissioner Secretary of the Floriculture Parks and Gardens Department, Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, stood as the proud recipient of this prestigious certification. Santosh Shukla, the President and CEO of World Book of Records, along with a host of other dignitaries, presented the certificate to Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, commemorating the remarkable achievement.
Expressing his gratitude, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad attributed this success to the unflagging efforts of the dedicated staff under his purview. He extended his appreciation to the World Book of Records London for bestowing this honor upon Tulip Garden Srinagar, and vowed to continue the legacy of excellence nurtured by the tireless gardeners.
The event saw the Director of the Department, Farooq Ahmed Rather, extend a warm welcome to all the dignitaries in attendance. The significance of Tulip Garden Srinagar was underscored by its picturesque location nestled against the backdrop of the Zabarwan mountain range, positioned at an impressive altitude of 5600 feet. Overlooking the enchanting Dal Lake in Siraj Bagh, the garden stands as a haven for an array of flower species beyond tulips, encompassing Daffodils, Hyacinths, Roses, Ranunculi, Muscaria, and Iris.
The Commissioner Secretary, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, was showered with congratulations from the Central Working Committee of the World Book of Records, as well as distinguished international figures. In recognition of this achievement, he has been cordially invited to the esteemed Britain Parliament in London on September 14, where he will formally receive the certification.
The proceedings of the event were deftly presented by Azhar Hajini, adding a touch of grandeur to the occasion. Dr. Dilip N Pandit, Editor of the World Book of Records, and various officials, including the Deputy Director of Floriculture and Assistant Floriculture officers from the Kashmir division, were among the many witnesses to this remarkable moment.(KNB)
