Srinagar 7 April (KNB): Touseef Raina, an independent councillor, won the chairmanship of Municipal Council Baramulla (MCB) on Wednesday after securing 12 votes and simultaneously defeated Apni Party’s Mudasir Tantray.
Raina, while talking to News Agency — Kashmir News Bureau, said that he had filed form as an independent councillor for the MCB’s chairman seat and secured a total of 12 votes out of 19.
The opposite candidate of the Raina vying for chairman’s seat was Mudasir Tantry of Apni Party, who secured only 7 votes in the election.
After securing chairmanship, Raina said the Baramulla had been neglected, and he wants to do something for the betterment of the town so that the people’s trust in the elected representatives would increase.
“We will try our best to redress the concerns of the people here and will do our best to eradicate all the bad things from the town,” Raina said. (KNB)
