Torrential rains caused uncertainty in Srinagar city

Srinagar, Aug 07 (KNB): The overnight Torrential rains in Kashmir triggered the uncertainty in parts of summer capital Srinagar causing water-logging in the city center, Old City, Lal Chowk and other areas of the city. 
According to the reports during the wee hours on Tuesday heavy rainfall started at the most places in Kashmir. Though it brings relief from scorching heat, however, it caused water logging which impacted the routine movement. 
The waterlogging caused long and heavy traffic snarls in most of the Srinagar areas and due to which pedestrians face tough time. The areas including Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Rajouri Kadal, Saraf Kadal, Baba Demp and also in Boulevard were affected due to the rains. The authorities divert traffic of these routes which affected the normal life in Kashmir which was proposed to resume after two days of consecutive shutdown. The pedestrians faced difficulty wading through inundated roads. 
SMC official said that most of the water pumps were deployed in the city and all of them are operational to reduce the water levels from the streets and localities.
Meanwhile weatherman has predicted light to moderate rains with thundershowers will occur at many places of Valley in next 24 hours. (KNB)
