Top LeT Commander among Two militants, civilian Killed in Kulgam

Kulgam 24 June (KNB): Top LeT commander including two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces while another caught alive in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

A civilian was also killed in firing allegedly by security forces, who came under attack from stone-pelting locals near the encounter site.

According to Police official, Militants opened fire on a search team of security forces in Chadderbhan village of Kulgam which turned into encounter.

According to reports reached Kashmir News Bureau that, “one of the injured, identified as Yawar Ahmad Dar of Gassipora suffered critical injuries in the forces’ action. He was shifted to district hospital Anantnag where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Confirming the incident on Twitter, director general of police, Shesh Paul Vaid, said two–three militants were trapped in the encounter. “Reportedly two Militants killed so far.”

Vaid also tweeted that a third militant had surrendered with arms and ammunition.

He said one of the Militants killed was the Shakoor Dar divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). (KNB)
