Shopian, April 13(KNB): Top Jaesh-e-Muhammad(JeM) Commander killed among two militants in an encounter that broke out between militants and the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday morning.
As per the reports, a joint team of army, CRPF and SOG men laid a siege around Gahand village and started a search operation at around 7: 30 am.
The militants hiding in an apple orchard opened fire on the forces, the forces retaliated leading to a gunfight that left two militants killed.
The slain militants were identified as Shah-Jahan JeM Commander of Amshipora Shopian and Umar of Rawalpora.
Authorities have suspended the internet service in the district.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted near the site of encounter.(KNB)
