Timber Smuggling Bid Foiled in Ganderbal, Accused Gives Slip to Police

Srinagar 18 February (KNB): Police on Friday said that a smuggling bid was foiled by them in Ganderbal district’s Hayanpalpora Kagan after recovering an illicit timber from the possession of an accused, who gave slip to police. 

Police spokesperson said that they acted swiftly upon a reliable information about timber smuggling at Hayanpalpora Kangan, SHO Police Station Kangan Inspector Turk Zahoor under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri raided Hayanpalpora area of Kagan and seized illegal timber from the possession of an accused person, Abdul Karim Kumar.

It was said the accused managed to give a slip, taking advantage of topography. Police further said that they are continuously searching for the accused and all efforts are being made to arrest him. 

In this regard, a case FIR No. 21/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kangan and further investigation into the matter has also been taken up, police said. (KNB)
