Three Militants Killed in first Gunfight of 2019 in Tral

Pulwama 03 Jan (KNB): Three militants were killed on Thursday in an encounter with security forces in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, while Army person was injured.




“Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in in a forest area in Gulshanpora of Tral following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.” Police official said.

“While conducting searches the militants fired upon them, adding three militants were killed in the ensuing encounter.” He said

He identified the slain as Shakoor Ahmad Parray @Jaffar, son of Ghulam Nabi Parray resident of Laribal Tral, Tawseef Ahmad Thoker @Abu Talha son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-deen Thoker and Zubair Ahmad Bhat @Abu Huraira son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat – both residents of Chursoo Awantipora..

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between groups of youth and security forces in the area

“Police had to use some force to quell the protests and about six youth were injured in the clashes.” Police official said. (KNB)
