Anantnag, Dec 22 (KNB): Acting on repeated reports of black bear movement, the Wildlife Control Room Achabal of the Bringi Valley Range on Monday captured three black bears alive from the Shangus–Nowgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials said the trapping cage was installed on the directions of the Wildlife Warden South and the Range Officer Bringi Valley after locals raised concerns over frequent sightings of the animals in the area.
The wildlife team later found a mother bear along with two semi-adult bears inside the cage. After completing all necessary formalities and following the department’s standard operating procedures, the trio was safely released into their natural habitat.
Officials said the swift intervention by the wildlife department helped prevent any potential human–wildlife conflict in Shangus and adjoining areas. (KNB)
