New Delhi, September 06 (KNB): In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India set aside the notification for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) elections in the Kargil region. The court ruled in favor of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) party, granting them the coveted ‘plough’ symbol.
The court’s decision directs the immediate issuance of a fresh election notification within a timeframe of seven days.
The judgment also imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on the Ladakh Administration, dismissing their petition opposing the allocation of the ‘plough’ symbol to the JKNC.(KNB)
