Baramulla 31 October (KNB): The Board of School Education Baramulla has shifted the 10th Class exam centre from Govt. Higher Secondary School (GHSS) of Larridora to Govt. High School (GHS) Taripora without any logical reasons.
Talking to KNB, Principal of GHSS Laridora said that he doesn’t even know why the centre for exam has been shifter to GHS, despite the fact that all the required facilities are available here.
“We have a Specially abled student who will face immense difficulties in traveling to the centre decided by the board,” He further asked, “Why make these children suffer?”
He said, “Such move will put the credibility of our institution at stake”.
GHSS Laridora has been the exam centre for past 5 years in the area and is convenient to commute to the students of the area.
A student, Masrat said, “Me and my friends are angry about it, the exam centre is quite far our home, it is going to be difficult to travel such distance in this cold weather, Higher Secondary School Laridora should conduct these exams instead cause I don’t want to walk too much and get tired before exams”.
Sarpanch Halqa Laridora Irshad Khan told Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) that BOSE, without stating any logical reasons has decided to conduct the upcoming 10th class exams at High School Taripora. “The school (GHS) is too far to commute for students of the area, it is located farther from the main road”.
He added, “There is no reason to shift the exam centre to a High School that was built a couple years ago and doesn’t even have proper facilities”.
He further said that the Board officials are giving lame excuses like snowfall will create problems for the Superintendent. “Snow fall has been a part and parcel of Kashmir as well as Laridora since the beginning of times. No superintendent ever complained about it”.
When KNB contacted, Assistant Secretary BOSE Baramulla, Showkat Ahmed said, “There is a technical problem, GHSS Laridora comes under the jurisdiction of police station Chandoosa which will be difficult to reach for the superintendent of the exam to collect examination materials in case snow fall takes place, on the other hand, GHS Taripora comes under the jurisdiction of Police station Sheeri which is convenient for the superintendent to commute and collect the examination material and bring it to the school on time”.
When KNB asked about the difficulties students will face in travelling to GHS Taripora for exams, he said, “It is only around 2km from GHSS Laridora, I don’t think it will be difficult for any one to travel this distance but still if the Police station Sheeri agrees to keep the examination material with them, we have no issues in conducting the exams at GHSS Laridora ”.
