Baramulla 22 January(KNB):Despite passing of four days, authorities are yet to remove snow from various roads in various areas of the north kashmir causing inconvenience to pedestrians, patients, students and common masses.
Residents of Nilsar Chandoosa, Nagbal, doudbug, sultanpora and Bandibala village in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District have alleged that the snow clearance teams did not clear at least five kilometre stretch leading to the Nilsar village leaving them disconnected.
The district administration has claimed that they cleared snow from all roads, but the villagers alleged that they were left out for unknown reasons.
Locals told KNB that from the day it started snowing the students of the village are worst hit as they are unable to go to tuitions.
“The road is still closed as it is covered with snow and if there is any contingency we cannot even hire a vehicle and our patients are suffering badly as there is no road connectivity to see a doctor”said another resident, adding that the concerned department owes an explanation to the people of these villages.
Hundreds of residents including women of Nilsar and Nagbal,baldagi while talking to Kashmir News Bureau also complained that they are reeling under darkness and are suffering due to unavailability of power for last three days.
When Contacted Assistant executive engineer Mechanical engineering department Baramulla Mr Tariq Ahmad told Kashmir News Bureau that “We have almost cleared all the roads and we two days ago tried to clear Chandoosa Nilsar stretch but unfortunately our machine got stuck in snow and blade of the machine got damaged.”
“He also added that the depth of snow in Nilsar is more than three feet and our machine cannot clear the road and now the PMGSY department has to hire the JCB to clear the stretch as the depth of snow is more and once the depth of snow reduces we will also send our men and machinery to clear the road”.
It is pertinent to mention that heavy snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir has affected road transport and essential services such as power supply and hospital operations and also the only all-weather road linking the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, has been closed for traffic following landslides and after an avalanche hit the Jawahar Tunnel area.
