SMC Corporator demands time bound probe into PDD Empoyees’s death

Srinagar, 02 August(KNB): Srinagar municipal corporation (SMC) Corporator Danish Bhat on Sunday demanded probe into the death of a PDD employee who was electrocuted while discharging his duties in safa Kadal area of Srinagar district.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau, Danish Bhat expresses deep sorrow over the tragic death of Riyaz Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Rehman Rather and said, due criminal negligence of not providing proper gear to its employees by the PDD department has claimed all many lives.

Taking on twitter, Danish Bhat said, “Disheartened to know that once again a PDD worker has died from electrocution today.The criminal negligence of not providing proper gear to its employees by the department has claimed all these lives. Will write to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for immediate probe.”

He urged the Government to conduct probe into the incident and take action against the accused officers. “Besides, the Government should provide a permanent job to the one of a family members of the deceased and grant at least 5 lakh rupees as ex-gratia relief to the bereaved family as a special case,” (KNB)
