Srinagar 3 January (KNB): Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali conducted a meeting with all the senior officers of the Corporation to review snow clearance and dewatering exercise in the city, after a fresh spell of snow fall, at ward office SK Park Lal Chowk.
A statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau said that during the meeting, Gazanfar Ali was informed that there was a swift removal of snow from the main stretches in a drive that started early morning from all the areas including LalChowk, Habba Kadal,MA Road, Hassanabad, SafaKadal, Harisingh High Street, Zero Bridge,DCOffice, Secretariat road ,Naalimar road, Qamarwari, Noorbagh etc.
Officials stated that the meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner Adm Syed Abul Qasim, S.E Drainage Ahsaan ul Haq , Chief Sanitation Officer Mudasir Banday, Chief Transport Officers Syed Nisar, corporator Tanveer Pathan and others.
During the course of meeting, SMC Commissioner passed on directions to be attentive and ensure snow clearance from all the city lanes, worship places, Hospitals, Roads, important institutions etc. by putting men and machinery on job, so that no resident faces any inconvenience due to the snow accumulation.
Ali further said that the immediate priority was to ensure all roads leading to hospitals and religious places, including shrines and
gurdwaras, are cleared for movement of people and traffic.
Commissioner SMC was also informed that all the men and machinery including JCB’s, Hoppers and vehicles are in a state of readiness and already on job for snow clearance.
Similarly, it was also informed that besides 85 Permanent dewatering stations which are fully functional and the services of 32 mobile pumps are being utilised/deputed to cater water logging issues in different areas in the city. (KNB)
