Shopian 06 May (KNB):The top most Hizb commander and one who was supposed to be the last surviving militant in the viral image that circulated during Burhan Wani days Saddam Paddar is believed to be killed in the encounter at Badigam Shopian.
Pertinently, the Kashmir University Assistant Professor Rafi of the Sociology Department reported missing just two days back is also stated to be among the dead militants.
As per the latest reports reached KNB that one civilian too has died in the ongoing heavy clashes.
Police had earlier used motivating methods to pursue militants to surrender but it is said they refused the offer and the gunfight ensued.
The killing of Kashmir University doctorate scholar and Assistant professor makes it among the one of the most qualified militant ever killed in the thirty year history of Kashmir gunbattles.
On the otherhand, Saddam paddar was among the longest surviving hizb militants in the valley.
Reports reaching Kashmir news bureau that “With mobile internet being snapped, protests in South Kashmir and other areas of Kashmir are expected to escalate”.
In the initial firefight, an army Jawan and SOG cop was wounded.
Gunbattles are now occurring on daily bases in Kashmir and with more youth joining militancy the situation is alarming.
Four militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter at Badigam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Bodies of the slain militants were recovered along with as many rifles.(KNB)
