Shopian Civilian Killing: BJP demands Withdrawal of FIR, NC for arrest of accused

Srinagar, Jan 29 (KNB): Two parallel demands from the mainstream parties of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday rocked the state assembly over Shopian civilian Killing.
Ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while demandeding the withdrawal of an FIR lodged against the army men in the killing of two civilians in south Kashmir’s Shopian district was opposed by the opposition party National Conference by demanding the arrest of army personnel involved in the killing.
Two youth Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone  were shot dead by army in Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday to which Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a murder and attempt to murdercase against Major Aditya of Garhwal Rifles.
“The government should withdraw the FIR against the Army personnel and lodge a fresh FIR without naming anybody,” BJP’s RS Pathania said while speaking in the Assembly. He questioned the registration of murder case against the army. “Why were serious charges levelled against the army?” he asked. The criminal justice system, he said, doesn’t work under pulls and pressures.
On the other hand ppposition National Conference demanded the arrest of army personnel involved in the killing of two youth in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. “The government should arrest all the army personnel named in the FIR,” NC leader Ali Muhammad Sagar said while speaking in the Assembly during discussion on Shopian killings.
Meanwhile shutdown was observed on Monday in parts of south Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day against civilian killings. (KNB)
