Special prayer meeting held; speakers pay rich tribute
Srinagar, May 20 (KNB): Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam while remembering its former president Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) on his 33rd martyrdom anniversary said on the occasion a special prayer meeting was organised in the auditorium of the Anjuman in which the teachers, students and staff of the schools run by this more than a century-old educational institution participated.
The Anjuman in a statement said that speaking on the occasion, General Secretary of Anjuman, Khurshid Ahmad Qadri Education Secretary Professor Ghulam Muhammad Khan and Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon said that Mirwaiz Allama Rasool Shah (RA) started the campaign of educational awareness in Kashmir by founding the Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam in 1890.
With the passage of time, the precious role played by other Mirwazeen of Kashmir during their respective presidency in taking forward the educational mission of the Anjuman is a golden chapter of the academic history of Kashmir, they said.
The speakers said that among the sincere and able teachers of the Anjuman were a certain number of Kashmiri Pandits who devoted all their abilities to the education and training of Muslim children without discrimination.
It is worth mentioning here that the students of Islamia School were taken to the Jama Masjid Srinagar for prayers, under the supervision of Pandit Narendra Nath (Drill Master) who regularly used to make attendance of the students and marked the absent ones.
The speakers paid tribute in wonderful words to Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) for his immense and invaluable educational, reformative and constructive services towards the Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam and said that Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) has done much to equip the nation, especially the daughters of the millat, with the jewel of education. Such a vision of this great leader reflects his intellectual insight, they said.
The Shaheed-e-Millat said that Muslim students should have the Holy Qur’an in one hand and the modern book of science in the other hand so that they can face the challenges of the times.The speakers reiterated their commitment that they will continue making positive efforts to realise the dreams of Shaheed-e-Millat towards the educational institutions run by Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam.
It should be noted that the current head of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq could not attend the prayer meeting due to his continued detention for nearly four years.
In the end, special prayers were made in favour of all former presidents, general secretaries, supporters and sympathisers of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam including Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) for the forgiveness and elevation of their ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous. statement further added
