Senior PDP leader appeals Governor to ensure safety of Kashmiri Students

Srinagar 24 Feb (KNB): Senior PDP Leader and ex CAPD minister MohammadAshraf Mir on Sunday appeals Governor Satypal Malik to ensure the safety of Kashmiri Students studying outside Kashmir.

Ashraf Mir writes

A humble request to Hon’ble Governor.
As you are already aware about the prevailing hostile environment outside Kashmir valley concerning common Kashmiris in general and students in particular in the immediate aftermath of Pulwama tragedy, future of many Kashmiri students seems to be in the jeopardy. Reports of students being abused and harassed by lumpen elements are quite disturbing. Some students have even been rusticated / suspended by their institutions for none of their faults. Since right to education is a fundamental right of every citizen which has been enshrined in the constitution of India, depriving students of their rights by the lumpen elements and management of certain institutions is tantamount to hurling insults on the constitution of our country. This is also a brazen display of injustice and discrimination. Education is the only tool which distinguishes good from the bad. Creating hostile environment outside the valley for Kashmiri students will alienate our youth further. This alienation can force our boys to embark upon the path of destruction thus making situation in the state more volatile. I would humbly like to request you, to mitigate the problems faced by our students, who have recently returned back to Kashmir. I further request you to provide examination facilities to all of them locally so that their academic year is saved from the ruin and their career prospects are protected. This move will definitely boost their confidence and a hope of sustainable life will stay alive in them.I hope ur excellency will ponder over my requests and act accordingly.
