Security forces launch search operation in Srinagar city

Srinagar 27 July (KNB): Security forces on Friday launched a cordon and search operation in Lal Chowk — the commercial hub of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar.

According to Sources, the operation was launched by the Special Operations Group, Army and CRPF in historic Ghanta Ghar (clock tower) and Koker Bazar area following inputs about the presence of militants there.

Reports said KNB that “security forces were searching Shops and vehicles at Zero Bridge and Kokerbazar area of Srinagar district”.

Eyewitnesses said KNB that “Commuters face massive traffic jam ahead of surprise checking by security forces in Srinagar city including zero bridge area.

The operation comes just three days after a CRPF jawan was killed and two others were injured in a militant attack during broad day light at Batamallojust half-a-km from Police Control Room (PCR). (KNB)
