Srinagar 09 April 2023: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) President Sajad Gani Lone on Sunday paid rich tributes to the great Kashmiri poet, Ghulam Ahmad Mahjoor, on his anniversary.
In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB Sajad Lone has said that Mahjoor, who is often referred to as the “Poet of the People”, made an invaluable contribution to the Kashmiri literature and culture, and remains a source of inspiration for generations of Kashmiris.
Sajad Lone, while paying tributes to Mahjoor said, Mahjoor’s poetry has a universal appeal and reflects the aspirations and struggles of the people of Kashmir. His poetic vision was not limited to the realm of literature but extended to the political and social spheres as well, as he played a leading role in fighting for the rights of the people of J&K. Lone said
Today, on his anniversary, we pledge to carry forward his legacy and work towards promoting the rich Kashmiri culture and language.”Lone urged the people of J&K to draw inspiration from Mahjoor’s life and work, and work towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the region. lone further said (KNB)
