Srinagar 09 June (KNB): Anup Chandra Pandey, a retired IAS officer has been appointed as the Election Commissioner of India by the country’s President.
Pandey is a retired IAS officer of batch 1984 of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He will be the successor of Sunil Arora, who retired on April 12.
“In pursuance of clause (2) of article 324 of the Constitution, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Anup Chandra Pandey, IAS (Retd.) (UP: 1984) as the Election Commissioner with effect from the date he assumes the office,” reads an official notice.
He has served at important positions before his retirement from service in 2019. Pandey is a Phd holder in History and has MBA degree with BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering. (KNB)
