Batamalu, Feb 13(KNB):The residents of Sector (B) of Shiekh Dawood Colony alleged that Power Development Department (PDD) is adopting delaying tactics in providing an additional transformer as the installed one is not sufficient for providing electricity to the wide population of the area.

As per the locals, the already installed 630 KV transformer is not sufficient for a wide population, as it is often worsened due to over loading, the area is reeling under darkness from past three years due to the low voltage of electricity and constant fuse burns causing tremendous hindrances to the people.

President of Mohalla Committee, Mohammad Aslam Sheikh  said, “we are demanding for an additional transformer of 250kv since from 2015, as the already installed one is not sufficient for providing electricity to the whole area, we are facing inconvenience as PDD failed to install the additional transformer in the area.”

Bashir Ahmad, another local said, ” we approached the concerned authorities for providing additional 250 KV transformer, but nothing has been done so far, the existing transformer is not sufficient, as the the population increases which creates heavy load on transformer and it gets damaged frequently.”

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau, Chief Engineer Power Development Department(PDD) Hashmat Qazi said, “Installation of 250kv transformer is not feasible there, but still this matter has been taken in to consideration, although it will take some time for the installation of said transformer.”(KNB)
