Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNB): Security has been beefed up ahead of Republic Day celebrations being celebrated on 26th January in the length and breadth of Kashmir Valley. All the security agencies, Central Reserve Police Force, J&K police and Army have been put on high alert all over the valley. On other hand the Joint Resistance leadership has called for protests after Friday congregational prayers.
Sources told KNB, that the authorities are likely to suspend mobile internet services, besides imposing restrictions in parts of Valley for smooth conduct of parades at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium and other district headquarters that marks the Republic Day celebrations.
Earlier ahead of Republic Day, in view of the strong inputs that militants can attack on 26th January several search operation were conducted by the government forces in summer capital Srinagar apart from parts of South Kashmir.
Train service has been also suspended in from Banihal to Srinagar. Official said that the train service has been suspended due to law and order situation in the south Kashmir.
Pertinently, the authorities in view of the security measures this year changed the venue of parade from Bakshi Statium to Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has called for Kashmir-wide protests after congregational Friday prayers on 26th January against the killing of civilians, indiscriminate firing and use of pellets, vandalising properties.
In a joint statement JRL impressed religious clerics to lead protest demonstration and aware people about ongoing bloodshed perpetrated by state administration and asked to raise the cause of supressed and oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNB)
