Srinagar, April 04(KNB): The Congress Party released its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Subha elections starting from 11 April which states that if the party comes in to power it won’t allow any change in constitutional position on Article 370, will review AFSPA and reduce presence of armed forces in the valley.

Both the regional parties of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference(NC) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) welcomes Congress Party’s Manifesto to amend AFSPA, Article 370 and reduce presence of armed forces in the valley.

Mehbooba while terming the manifesto as her Party’s agenda said “I welcome it. It was our agenda when we were in coalition with BJP to revoke AFSPA, to recall security forces from civilian areas, to have a dialogue with representatives of separatists and Pakistan. I am happy Congress has included it in their manifesto. I am happy that the party has included AFSPA in its manifesto.”

Omar Abdullah said ”I wish they would have done this when I was the chief minster. I don’t want to take names, but there were senior Kashmir leaders who did not support me then. but now today that Congress has mentioned it, I welcome this.”

Pertinently, while some political parties of Jammu and Kashmir welcomes the Congress party’s manifesto other parties from country lambasted Congress Party and its President Rahul Gandhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while reacting to the Congress party’s manifesto said that it is the document of Pakistan’s conspiracies.

BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister S M Krishna speaking about Congress Manifesto of removing AFSPA and sedition laws said “it is going to be a very dangerous move, considering how the national security is poised today, how terrorists from outside and terrorists from within are trying to make an assault on our polity and our nation. So it will be a very dangerous move.”

Union Finance Minister & BJP leader Arun Jaitley lashing out at Congress said that party’s ideas in Congress’s manifesto are dangerous and have been framed by Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s friends ‘the tukde tukde gang’.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief GA Mir speaking about the Congress Manifesto said that the people should understand the commitment of its party.

“We had always a clear policy and have never tried to mislead the public. We have given complete assurance on Articles 370 and 35A…this is a special status…it is not charity. Our commitment is clear. People should understand it,” Mir said.(KNB)
