Srinagar 06 November (KNB):There has been an increase in covid19 cases from some areas of the city recently and reason behind the 3rd covid wave could be Srinagar, said Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aijaz Asad on Saturday.
DC Srinagar while talking to reporters, after inspecting the people’s compliance towards the covid appropriate behaviour in Lal Chowk, said that there has been a spike in covid cases of late in some areas of Srinagar. He said that if there would be a 3rd covid wave, Srinagar could be a reason behind it.
“60% of total cases from J&K are coming from Srinagar district. In the last week, 20 cases were reported from Lal Bazar, 17 from Bemina, 18 from Chanapora and there are other pockets also from where 10-15 cases each have come during the last week,” said DC Asad.
“If we were able to keep the 3rd covid wave at bay, it was due to the people adhering to Covid SOPs religiously,” he said.
He further said that there has been violation of covid SOPs recently and underscored the need of people to become accountable for themselves as it is impossible for administration to keep check on everything 24 hours, he said.
DC Asad also said that if cases would continue to rise in the manner as it is now then they would be forced to take some strict action in this regard. (KNB)
