Since his residence was near airport– used to be my last stop often before leaving Kashmir..He would often drop me at airport, make sure, I don’t have to wait or stand in queue. Knowing that I abhor special treatment, he would surreptitiously pass message to airport staff to take care..I passed through his residence a while ago. Stopped at the enterence, thinking Shujat will soon emerge and in his typical wry style bid adiue to Delhi wala. The gates were locked. Housekeeper Bashir also seemed left to ancestral village.
