Pulwama Attack: Centre Asks States To Ensure Security Of Kashmiri Students

A Home Ministry official said there have been some reports of students and other residents of Jammu and Kashmir experiencing threats and intimidation.
The Centre on Saturday asked all states to ensure the safety and security of students and people from Jammu and Kashmir living in their areas after threats to them in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.
The advisory came hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured an all-party meeting that the needful would be done for the protection of Kashmiri students and people from the state who were allegedly threatened following the terrorist attack in Pulwama in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
A Home Ministry official said there have been some reports of students and other residents of Jammu and Kashmir experiencing threats and intimidation. “Therefore, the Home Ministry today issued an advisory to all states/UTs to take necessary measures to ensure their safety and security,” the official said.
Some Kashmiri youths studying in the Uttarakhand capital, Dehradun, have alleged that they were harassed and have been asked by their landlords to vacate accommodations apprehending attacks on their properties in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack.
In one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s three decades of militancy, Jaish suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar rammed a SUV packed with explosives into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district on Thursday, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.
Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the horror.
