Rajouri Oct 05 : Authorities here have booked and detained a notorious criminal under Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in criminal activities while there were strong apprehensions that he can create disturbance in upcoming Panchayat elections.
Criminal has been identified as Abdul Rashid son of Lal Din resident of Pargal village of Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district.
The said accused is a ‘History Sheeter’ of Darhal police station since 1999.
Criminal remained involved in a number of criminal activities in Darhal tehsil area and was becoming a major threat for people of the area.
The cases which stand registered against him include FIR 68/1990, 04/1994, 81/1998, 11/2005, 82/2005, 88/2007, 79/2008, 129/2008, 47/2009, 148/2010, 52/2016, 18/2018.
These cases include that of theft and burglary, assault, kidnapping, rape, damage of properties as well as drugs trafficking while he also stands booked in a case of militancy act.
Among these, criminal remain booked in case 18/2018 U/S 8/15/20 NDPS Act which was registered on 02-04-2018 when a man from Pargal was arrested along with some drugs from his shop but during course of investigation it came to fore that the criminal booked under PSA placed drugs in the shop of arrested man to settle some personal scores with him. During investigation it came to fore that criminal, who has been booked under PSA, peddles intoxicant and drugs in the area after which he was arrested.
He was booked in a case 148/2010 U/S 458, 323, 342, 366, 147, 148 RPC that was registered after he along with some more men kidnapped a girl only one day before her marriage.
He was also found involved in a case of militancy which was registered on 22-11-2005 after two men fired on an army ambush party and during investigation of a case 82/2005 U/S 307, 336, 120-B, 121, 122, 124-A, 212, 216 RPC and 3 PSSA Act, it was found that accused was mastermind involved in incidents of militancy.
Recently, police also received information and strong apprehensions came to fore that the said accused namely Abdul Rashid son of Lal Din resident of Pargal Darhal can create disturbance in Panchayat polls in Rajouri district as he already remained involved in a case 129/2008 U/S 341, 147, 323 RPC that was registered on 23-11-2008 after he, along with some other men, assaulted people who were going to a polling station to cast their votes.
Keeping in view the repeated involvement of said man in criminal activities, SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas submitted a PSA dossier to District Magistrate Rajouri, who issued PSA detention order after which PSA has been slapped on the said notorious criminal.
Police party headed by SHO Darhal Habib Pathan under the close supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar A Chowdhary executed the PSA detention order and criminal has been lodged in Central Jail Kotbhalwal.
