Protests in Soura over nocturnal raids and arrests

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNB): In Soura area of Srinagar reports said people took to streets Saturday morning to demand release of arrested persons. The protesters also blocked the road, leading to traffic disruptions in the area.

Reports said KNB that “students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Soura Srinagar took to the streets against arresting of many boys in the area.

The girl students came out on streets to protest against the arrest of four students of Government Boys Higher Secondary Schools and an alleged minor class tenth student of Ramzan Memorial School.

Local allege that police raided many residential houses during night and made many arrests.

However, police confirmed that they have arrested only one youth from the area. “He is a stone thrower. We have arrested him from his home in Anchar,” said a police official from Soura police station. (KNB)
