Prominent pro-resistance activist Shakeel Ahmad Bhat released

Srinagar, June 20 (KNB): Shakeel Ahmad Bhat popularly known as Islamic Rage boy hailing from Downtown area of Fatehkadal,  a prominent youth resistance activist has been released from jail after languishing there for almost one and half year.
Pertinently, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat has been a often jail bird as he has been arrested on several occasions under Public Safety Act (PSA)
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau,  Shakeel Ahmad Bhat stated that “I have spent more than two decades in jail and to be precise almost 23 years in jail. I have been witness to seeing immense hardships and torture about 28 Public Safety Acts slapped on me.”
“I am firm on my path of resistance and In Sha Allah we will see freedom with imposition of Shariah and system preached by Prophet Muhammad PBUH.”
He expressed hope that new generation would spend their lives according to Islamic values and make Kashmir proud.
Bhat came to be known as ‘Rage Boy’ of Kashmir after a foreign news outlet carried a story on him. He was seen at the forefront of most of the protests in Srinagar during the Amarnath Land row agitation in 2008 and the summer agitation of 2010. He was also arrested in 2010 on charges of inciting protests against police.
Meanwhile, scores of people and delegations visited the residence of Shakeel Ahmad Bhat and expressed solidarity with Shakeel Bhat. (KNB)
