Police solves Shopian Murder Case of an elderly person

Srinagar, May 14 (KNB): Police on Monday claimed to have solved a murder case of an elderly person in south Kashmir’s Shopian district by arresting three persons “involved in the crime.”

A police spokesperson said that on May13, police post Imamsahib Shopian received a written complaint from Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Handew Shopian, in which he stated his father Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, 70, was ruthlessly beaten by the accused persons in his house over some property dispute, resulting in injuries to him.

“The injured was referred to SMHS Hospital from DH Shopian, where he succumbed to his injuries,” the spokesperson said.

He said after registration of case FIR number 153/2018, Shopian police took swift action and arrested three accused persons—Yaseen Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Adil Bhat son of Yaseen Bhat and Irfan Bhat son of Yaseen Bhat, all residents of Handew village of Shopian district.

“Initial investigations reveal that the prime motive behind murder was property dispute. Further investigation of the case is going on,” he added. (KNB)
