Anantnag 25 May(KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Police have refused the allegations made by former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti regarding the arrest of workers and agents.
According to the police, the detentions are limited in number and are based on specific intelligence inputs related to potential threats to law and order on polling day.
The police clarified that most of those detained fall under the category of Over-Ground Workers (OGWs). These preventive detentions are aimed at ensuring safe and peaceful elections.
Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti is protesting outside the Bijbehara Police Station demanding the immediate release of the detained PDP workers and agents.
Speaking with news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, Mehbooba Mufti has accused authorities of fearing that the people of the south will vote against them, leading to the detention of numerous workers and agents of her party. “They are afraid that if I reach Parliament, I will expose everything,” she stated.
