Police Recover 6kg IEDs Linked to Slain LeT Commanders in Pulwama

Pulwama 10 June(KNB): Police on Monday claimed to have recovered 6KG of IEDs from the OGW network of slain LeT commanders who were killed in encounter on 3 June in Nihama of Pulwama district.

In a statement to the Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, police reported that on the night of June 2nd/3rd, based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of two terrorists, Reyaz Ah Dar and Rayees Ah Dar, in Nihama village, a joint cordon and search operation was initiated by Pulwama police, the Army, and CRPF. The terrorists engaged the security forces, triggering the operation.

During the operation, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Reyaz Dar and his associate Rayees Dar, both categorized as ‘A’ terrorists, were neutralized. A significant cache of arms and ammunition was seized, including AK-47 rifles, rounds, pistols, and other incriminating materials. Consequently, FIR No. 20/24 under sections 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, and 16,18,19,20,38 UAPA was filed at PS Kakapora, statement added.

The investigation uncovered that the terrorists had been supported with harbor, shelter, and logistics by an OGW network comprising Bilal Ahmed Lone, Sajjad Ganie, and Shakir Bashir, all residents of Nihama. The network was dismantled, and the three individuals were apprehended.

It was discovered that the deceased terrorists had manufactured IEDs, which were later found in the possession of Shakir Bashir, concealed in orchards. The IEDs, stored in a plastic container with explosives and an active circuit trigger mechanism, weighed approximately 6kg and were subsequently neutralized on-site by the Pulwama police and army.
