Srinagar 29 December (KNB): Taking exception to the recent proposals of the Delimitation Commission, J&K Apni Party on Wednesday from its party headquarter at Sheikh Bagh took a march, which was foiled by the police.

After police did not allow the Apni Party’s march to head towards the Civil Secretariat, party chief Altaf Bukhari said that they had decided to march towards the Civil Secretariat against the proposals of Delimitation Commission and the “backdoor entries” of outsiders into Kashmir under the garb of Real Estate Summit.

He further said that the ongoing delimitation commission’s exercise should be conducted as per the mandate. “When we say the commission’s draft report is not acceptable to us, it does not mean we are against any region or religion,” said Altaf Bukhari.

Bukhari also fulminated against the attempt to “deceive” people with the promise of investment being brought in J&K. “We are not against investment… and the lands, houses, or other things can only be bought by the inhabitants of J&K,” he added.

“Regrettably, the administration here has only the purpose of harassing and troubling people,” he said.

He also said that the media is the fourth estate but has been silenced by the government by arbitrary detention of journalists and suggested to the media to not become pawns in the hands of people who are using them. (KNB)
