Srinagar 10 June (KNB): Locals of Central Kashmir Budgam’s Pahroo village are up in arms against the authorities for not initiating work on the area’s PHC and abandoning it altogether, which was constructed in 2013.
As per Pahroo residents, the PHC’s construction was started around seven years ago, but the completion of its work remains to be done. They said that the functioning of the facility could cater for the health-related needs of the locals.
“The structure has been erected, and now we residents only seek for its work to be resumed so that the benefits of it, for which it was constructed, can be availed by the residents here,” said a local.
The Pahroo locals further said that they have been hankering for the PHC’s functioning for a long time. “The PHC could help in accommodating patients who need medical care. The facility would at least help in relieving some burden on other hospitals to where the patients of the area usually are admitted to,” they added.
Regarding the issue, Social Activist Moin Yawa said that the construction of the PHC was supposed to be completed in 18 months, but it is yet to reach completion. “Almost 80% of the work is done, and it just needs a final touch. Therefore, the concerned authorities should look into it so that the real purpose of it is attained,” said Yawa.
While talking to MD J&K Housing Board Shahid Saleem Dar, as the dept was doing the PHC’s construction, he said that he had conveyed to DGM Srinagar to commence work on the PHC Pahroo, but a reason of lacking funds was cited from him.
However, the locals of Pahroo also appealed to the LG administration to pay heed to their concerns and help alleviate the problems compounded due to the concerned authorities’ inaction. (KNB)
