Inaugurates Two-Day Virtual e-Courts Phase III Workshop for North Zone High Courts
Srinagar, 31 May (KNB): The Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, virtually inaugurated the two-day e-Courts Phase III Regional Cluster Workshop for the North Zone High Courts at the J&K Judicial Academy, Srinagar.
The workshop, attended by delegates from the High Courts of Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Allahabad, along with the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, is presided over by members of the e-Committee, Supreme Court of India and the NIC, Pune team.
The Chief Justice inaugurated the workshop virtually from the Jammu wing of the High Court, in the presence of Justice Atul Sreedharan, Chairperson of the IT Committee, and Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Sanjay Dhar and Justice Rahul Bharti, Members of the IT Committee, High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
Justice Sanjay Dhar graced the occasion with his physical presence at the venue, while other members of the IT Committee, along with Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Justice Rajesh Sekhri, and Justice Muhammad Yousuf Wani, joined the event virtually from the Jammu wing of the High Court.
In his address, Chief Justice Kotiswar highlighted the transformative journey of the e-Courts project, emphasizing its role in overcoming various challenges in judicial dispensation. He noted the seamless virtual participation in the workshop as a testament to the technological advancements in judicial infrastructure. The Chief Justice expressed his satisfaction with the increased transparency, convenience and accessibility brought about by initiatives such as the Case Information System, Digitization, E-filing and E-payment. He emphasized that Phase III of the e-Courts project is poised to bring dramatic changes to the Indian judicial system.
Justice Sanjay Dhar, in his special address, provided a historical perspective on the development of the e-Courts project and expressed optimism about the benefits of Phase III. He acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Justice Badar Durez Ahmad in advancing the e-Courts initiatives within the J&K judiciary. Justice Dhar encouraged delegates to fully leverage the workshop.
Joint Secretary, Department of Justice, Government of India, P.P. Pandey, commended the stakeholders for achieving the project’s milestones on time. He expressed confidence that Phase III will elevate the Indian judicial system globally in terms of technological use and assured full support from the Department of Justice.
Ms. Arulmozhi Selvi, Member (Human Resources) E-Committee, Supreme Court of India, highlighted the initiative of the Chief Justice of India in organizing regional workshops to bring technological developments directly to stakeholders.
The event began with a welcome address by Y.P. Bourney, Director, J&K Judicial Academy and the proceedings were conducted by Anoop Kumar Sharma, Registrar Computers (IT) cum Central Project Coordinator, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
