PDP to suspend two members from Legislative Council

Srinagar, Jul 14 (KNB): Amid the political storm in Jammu and Kashmir, the erstwhile ruling party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mehbooba Mufti is all set to suspend its two senior members of Legislative Council (MLCs).
Highly placed sources in PDP told Kashmir News Bureau that two incumbent MLCs Yasir Reshi and Saif ud Din are likely to be suspended by the PDP, a day after they appeared in a press conference in Srinagar wherein they opposed the statement of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.

“This kind of behavior does not suit a member of the state legislature. We gave them a chance to express their stand into the issue. Now the high command has decided to go for their suspension from the house,” a senior PDP leader told KNB pleading anonymity.

Earlier, Yasir Reshi was suspended from the post of district president following his joining of the rebellion group led by senior MLA Pattan Imran Raza Ansari.
It is important to know that Yasir Reshi and Saif ud Din unsuccessfully participated in state assembly elections from Sumbal Sonawari and Khansahib Budgam constituencies respectively.
After biting the dust, several unsuccessful PDP contestants were later nominated as MLCs by the then Chief Minister late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
Pertinently, alleging Mehbooba Mufti of family-oriented policies, at least seven PDP key leaders/MLAs parted ways from the party soon after the collapse of PDP-BJP coalition government. (KNB)
