PDP in Turmoil: Senior Leaders, Workers Unhappy with Constituency Decisions

Srinagar 19 August(KNB): The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing internal turmoil as several senior leaders and workers have expressed disappointment over the party’s recent decisions on constituency in-charges.

According to sources, former ministers and MLAs are unhappy with the choices made by the party’s parliamentary board.

At the center of the controversy is senior party leader Abdul Rehman Veeri, who has been assigned Anantnag East instead of Bijbehara, a seat he has won four times. Veeri is reportedly upset over the decision, which was made without his consultation. Instead, Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti, has been given the mandate for Bijbehara.

Other leaders who have been sidelined include Aijaz Ahmad Mir, a DDC member from Wachi, and Dr. Harbakash Singh, a DDC member from Tral. Singh is reportedly planning to join the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) led by jailed Er Rasheed.

The PDP’s decisions have sparked widespread discontent among party leaders and workers, who feel that the choices were made without considering their opinions or contributions.

The party’s parliamentary board released the list of constituency in-charges for south Kashmir, which includes Veeri, Sartaj Madni, Dr. Mehboob Beg, Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura, Iltija Mufti, Gh Mohi-ud-din Wani, Waheed ur Rehman Para, and Rafiq Ahmad Naik.(KNB)
