Parts of South, North, Central Kashmir Likely To Receive Rain, Hailstorm in Next Few Hours: MeT

Srinagar 22 May (KNB): The Meteorological Department, Srinagar, on Saturday, said that there is an expectation of a brief spell of rain and hailstorm accompanying with a thunderstorm over the places of Shopian, Budgam, Gulmarg, Pulwama and other areas in coming two to six hours. 

In its latest update, an official of MeT said that the expected spell of rain and hailstorm over the four places — Shopian, Budgam, Gulmarg and Pulwama in the coming next few hours from now would dissipate later on in the day.

Further adding that the weather of similar nature would be expected on Sunday and Monday to prevail. “Expect brief spell of thunderstorm/ rain  with possibility of hailstorm at isolated to scattered places of Shopian, Budgam, Gulmarg, Pulwama etc. during next 2-6hrs. And dissipate thereafter gradually. The same weather conditions (are) likely to prevail on 23-24th as well,” said the official. 

The official further said that there is no forecast of any major rainfall, but localised thunderstorms with rain and hail occasionally occur due to a rise in temperature. (KNB)
