Only 44 water connections registered, 400 using illegal in Kupwara Village allege locals

Handwara, Jan 15(KNB): Inhabitants of Kukroosa village sub division of Vilgam North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, aghast over PHE officials failing to stop illegal water connections.




As per the local residents, PHE officials take money from Illegal water connections and are not paying any attention to remove the hocking of water connections from kukroosa village.

Mohd Shafi, a local resident said,
“The PHE department registered only 44 water connections, while near about 400 inhabitants residing in the village are using illegal water connections. Officials take Rs 200 per connection in our village.”

“Due to illegal connections given to some vested interested persons by the officials of the PHE Department particularly from the main gravities have worsen the situation.” he added.

When Kashmir News Bureau contacted Executive Engineer PHE Handwara he said, “I have deputed a team of AEE/JE to start investigation immediately as soon as possible.” (KNB)
