On Disabled Persons’ Rights DLSA Budgam Organizes Awareness Programme

Srinagar 03 December (KNB): District Legal Services Authority Budgam in collaboration with ELFA International (NGO) and Wheelchair Cricket Association J&K organized an awareness programme on rights of disability persons on the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Town Hall Budgam on Friday. 

A statement issued to news gathering agency KNB, that the programme was attended by Malik Shabir Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, Fozia Paul Secretary DLSA Budgam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam,Joint Commissioner SMC, Dy. SP Budgam, Executive Officer Municipal Council Budgam, PLV’s, disabled persons along with their families and official staff of DLSA Budgam. 

Malik Shabir Chief Judicial Magistrate of Budgam speaking on the occasion said that such kind of programmes boosts the morale of the special abled persons and should be organized with the participation of general public. He requested the administration to take the necessary steps in building a ramp system in Government offices for easy accessibility of these specially abled persons. 

Speaking on the occasion Secretary of DLSA, Budgam Fozia Paul said that DLSA Budgam is always available for such specially abled persons in case facing any difficulty in their day to day lives. She also apprised them about their basic rights and schemes available for this in legal institutions as well as in other departments. She also said that a person having any kind of physical disability should not be treated as disabled person; rather, disability lies in the mentality of the person who thinks so.

 At the end of the programme Chief judicial Magistrate and Secretary DLSA Budgam distributed about 50 warm blankets amongst the special abled persons in collaboration with the ELFA International (NGO). 

Pertinent to mention here that WheelChair Cricket Association who got first prize in the Cricket championship held at Gujrat were also felicitated by Secretary DLSA Budgam with the participation and appreciation certificates. (KNB)
