Ompora Grazing land being encroached

Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNB): Over the years Kashmir has been continuously witnessing decline in the area of grazing land and pastures which has adversely impacted the environment of Kashmir. The encroachment of grazing land in the main Ompora area of Budgam district is a matter of great concern and worrying all the voices concerned.

According to ground reports, the vested interests have begun to stretch their constructions on the grazing land and the available grazing land is also been converted into dumping sites of material, garbage by these vested interests.

Ompora a municipality area of Budgam is 9km from the city centre, Lal Chowk. It is located on the Srinagar-Budgam road, roughly 3km from Airport road. It is highly populated town of Budgam district. It is just 2.5km from district headquarter, Budgam. The adjoining villages around Ompora are Narkara, Bathara, Sheikhpura, Wadipora, Reshipora, Bemina, Sepdan.

“We hope the higher authorities intervene in the matter and save the all important grazing land of Ompora from further havoc as day by day it is being encroached. These efforts to eschew the grazing land of Ompora should be thwarted and vested interests brought to book, stated a resident of the area. (KNB)
