Ganderbal 13 Jan(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister OmarAbdullah on Monday, seized the opportunity to remind Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his promise to restore statehood during the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Ganderbal district.
Abdullah praised Modi’s efforts in conducting peaceful elections in the region and thanked him for visiting despite the harsh weather conditions.
Abdullah expressed his confidence that Modi would fulfill his promise, saying, “My heart tells me that very soon, you will fulfill your promise of restoring statehood.” He also emphasized the need for a continued strong relationship between Jammu and Kashmir and the central government.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the progress made on two key commitments: bridging the ‘Delhi ki Doori’ and holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. However, he stressed that the third promise, restoring statehood, remains unfulfilled.
Abdullah also paid tribute to the seven individuals who lost their lives during an attack in Gagangeer last October while working on the tunnel project. He emphasized that PM Modi’s presence sends a strong message to those opposing peace and progress in the region.(KNB)
