Omar Abdullah Blasts Trump’s ‘Erratic Statements’, Calls Handling of War Directionless

Srinagar 09 April(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has launched a sharp attack on the United States’ handling of the Iran conflict, strongly criticising what he described as inconsistent and confusing statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, and questioning the overall outcome of the war despite a fragile ceasefire.

In a pointed remark, Abdullah said President Trump’s statements lack clarity and consistency, making it difficult to understand Washington’s actual position on critical global issues. He remarked that the U.S. President appears to change his stance multiple times a day.

“He says something in the morning, something else in the afternoon, and by evening it is completely different. It seems even he himself does not know what he is saying,” Abdullah said.

He also raised concerns over the tone and language used by the U.S. President, suggesting that such rhetoric would not be tolerated from ordinary users on social media platforms, yet continues without accountability at the highest level of leadership.

Questioning the core objective of the conflict, Abdullah challenged the United States’ claims of achieving a “major success” after the ceasefire. Referring to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he pointed out that the crucial waterway was already open before the war began.

“If the Strait was open before the war and is open again after it, what exactly has been achieved?” he asked, adding that the conflict may have only complicated the situation further rather than resolving it.

Abdullah further expressed concern over the evolving regional dynamics, warning that Iran may now have greater leverage in the region following the conflict. He also highlighted ongoing tensions, particularly continued military actions by Israel in Lebanon, which he said could undermine the already fragile ceasefire.

Stressing the need for a balanced approach, Abdullah said that the responsibility for maintaining peace does not lie with one side alone. He urged the United States to play a more constructive role and ensure restraint, especially from its allies.

“If this ceasefire fails, the responsibility will not lie with Iran alone. There must be accountability across the board,” he said.

The remarks come at a time when a tenuous ceasefire between the United States and Iran is in place following weeks of intense conflict that had pushed the region to the brink of a wider war. While the truce has brought temporary relief, continued military activity and conflicting political messaging have raised serious concerns about its sustainability.(KNB)
