Srinagar, May 26 (KNB): The decision regarding the number of pilgrims to perform Hajj this year would be announced anytime soon, as per the J&K Hajj official.
According to an official, there is not any decision yet regarding the number of pilgrims to perform Hajj this year, and the same could be announced in a week. He said that some of the pilgrims have already registered themselves, and for them, the inoculation of the Covid vaccine was necessary before performing Hajj.
Further, Saudi Arabia has already made it public that only 60,000 persons would be allowed to perform Hajj this year, among whom 15,000 would be domestic pilgrims. They have also said that the pilgrims would not include those below the age of ten and above 60 years.
However, there is yet no official statement from the Indian side on how many pilgrims would be allowed from the country as of now.
It is pertinent to mention that the performing of Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam which Muslims across the world perform every year. (KNB)
