Noted jurist Justice Rajinder Sachar passes away

New Delhi, April 20 (KNB): Noted jurist and champion of human rights Justice (retired) Rajinder Sachar passed away in Delhi today. He was 94. He passed away at a private hospital.

Pertinently, a distinguished advocate for the protection of human rights, Justice Sachar was a former Chief Justice of Delhi and Sikkim High Courts. He resolutely promoted the cause of human rights and poor and had special love for Kashmir.

Justice Sachar was also head of People’s Union of Civil Liberty (PUCL). He authored many reports on Kashmir.
His renowned study the Sachar Committee report highlighted and presented its suggestions on how to remove impediments preventing Indian Muslims from fully participating in the economic, political, and social mainstream of Indian life. (KNB)
