No Security withdrawn from legislators, former ministers

Jammu, July 16 (KNB):  Refuting the news item carried by a local daily, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that no security was withdrawn from legislators of the state.  It said that , “it is being ensured that the security provided as per categorization fixed by the Security Hqrs, J&K is provided to the protectee.”
Pertinently, a news item was published in few local news papers that security provided to Ex-Ministers and legislators is being withdrawn.
Police spokesman in a statement clarified that security cover provided to Legislators (Ex-ministers) is not withdrawn.
“On the contrary, it is being ensured that the security provided as per categorization fixed by the Security Hqrs, J&K is provided to the protectee. Only in few cases, where PSOs/guards have been provided over and above the authorized number as per category are being withdrawn,” the statement reads.
This step has been taken to augment the police manpower at cutting edge level so as to improve security environment in the entire state and to utilize the additional manpower for Law and order and crime investigation duties.
The step is surely going to improve the efficiency of Police which is facing severe shortage of manpower on account of performing multifarious duties, the spokesman said. (KNB)
