Naveed Jatt among three who killed Shujaat Bukhari: Police

 Srinagar 28 June (KNB): In a major breakthrough, Police had identified senior journalist Shujaat Buhari’s killers as two local militants from South Kashmir and a Pakistani militant who escaped from police custody in Srinagar earlier this year.

Addressing the Media in PCR Srinagar Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, SP Pani said that they have “tangible evidence” to establish Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the murder of veteran journalist Shujaat Bukhari, and that the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan.

“Sajad Gul, from HMT Srinagar (now based in Pakistan), Azad Ahmed Malik (LeT operative), Muzafar Ahmad Bhat (LeT) from South Kashmir  and Pakistani national Naveed Jatt have been identified as accused, in connection with the murder.” Police said

Pakistan-based blogger who vilified Bukhari and accused him of furthering India’s interests, The blogger is a Kashmiri, currently residing in Pakistan,” he said

On 14 June, Bukhari (51) senior Journalist and editor of the daily Rising Kashmir, was shot dead outside his office in Srinagar. Two of his personal security officers were also killed in the attack. (KNB)
