Srinagar 21 Jan(KNB): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir said on Tuesday that a multi-tier security system has been implemented across the region to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
The comprehensive security measures include increased surveillance, checkpoints, and the deployment of additional security forces to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
Regarding the recent Sopore encounter, the IGP confirmed that the operation has ended, unfortunately, with the loss of an Army personnel.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs, targeting a militant hideout. During the exchange of fire, an Army jawan sustained critical injuries and later succumbed.(KNB)
